Steel shot is a type of spherical particle made from special materials and subjected to special heat treatment. In the sand cleaning treatment of many castings, steel shot is used for good cleaning effect. According to its hardness, it can be classified into cast steel shot, cast iron shot, glass shot, etc. Different hardness has different uses. Do you know what are the technical standards for it? Now let me introduce it to you.
Main technical standards for steel shot:
Microhardness: 390HV-530HV;
Specification level: S400~S030;
Chemical composition: The steel shot contains 0.8% -1.2% carbon, 0.35% -1.2% manganese, ≥ 0.4% silicon, and ≤ 0.05% sulfur and phosphorus;
Metallographic structure: tempered martensite or tempered martensite;
Foreign impurities ≤ 1%;
Density ≥ 7.0g/cm3;
The total number of defects is ≤ 20%;
Moisture content ≤ 0.2%.
Due to the uniform blue color on the surface of tempered iron balls after annealing, they are often used to impersonate cast steel shots. The service life of iron balls is only 50-400 times, and the rust removal effect of iron balls is seriously reduced, which seriously damages the interests of users.
Other: Chromium molybdenum and manganese steel on the market are both concepts promoted by manufacturers, because if 1% molybdenum metal is added, an additional 10kg of molybdenum metal needs to be added per ton of steel shot, which costs 4000 yuan. Currently, iron shot in China is only sold for about 3000 yuan/ton. Metallographic structure: Tempered martensite, tempered martensite, network carbide>grade 3.
Hardness: 45-65HRC, Density: 7.58g/m 3
The above are the technical standards for steel shots. The requirements for their technical standards are quite strict during production, so we need to pay extra attention to the production standards when processing.
